Before starting your pet portrait we will have a consultation about the following factors:-
- Animals Personality. Most importantly I want to capture the spirit of your pet so think of a few words that describe his character. What you love about him or her and what sets him or her apart from any other animal.
- Compostion and Arrangements based on the pictures you give me to work from and what other elements you would like to be included. eg, favorite toys, scenery etc.
- Fantasy vs reality. Some people like a super realistic work while others enjoy the creativity of something a little more artsy, fun or kid friendly. This includes both the portrayal of the background and the animal itself. What kind of flavor do you want? Funny, serious, heroic, sweet?
- Colors. Color is another element where my work can range from super realistic to incorporating other colors to create a more interesting final effect. For example, a cat may have black fur but within that fur I may add deep blues, indigos and maroons to create a richer effect. Some people may enjoy the fun of hyper real coloring, eg. bright pinks, blues and oranges that create the animals form as opposed to using realistic tones of browns etc.
Additionally background colors can also be adjusted to accomodate tastes and decors. Think about any colors that you absolutely hate and any colors that you really love and I will work with your preferences in mind.
- Wording. Think about if you want your pets name or a particular quote or phrase included into the work. this can add a lot of meaning, fun and interest to the final image.
- Size and Budget. It's helpful to know your budget range for this work. After seeing your pictures and listening to your compositional ideals I can let you know which size will work within your budget for this work and we will find the perfect balance.
-Estimated Completion Date. Assume a 4 - 6 week turnover time plus shipping. If I can do it sooner I will let you know. If you need your painting in a hurry for a special occasion please let me know. Rush orders will incur an additional 20% charge.
